In the match no. 49 of the season 7 of Indian Premier League (Pepsi IPL 2014), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 20 Runs.
Having won the toss at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Royal Challengers Bangalore elected to field first.
Kolkata Knight Riders lost the wicket of Gautam Gambhir early and soon Manish Pandey and Yusuf Pathan also got out after getting starts. KKR were 56/3 in the 7th over. But Robin Uthappa played brilliant innings scoring unbeaten 83 runs of just 51 balls and he was supported well by Shakib Al Hasan who scored 60 runs of just 38 balls. In the end Kolkata reach a score of 195/4 in their 20 overs – their highest total this season.

For Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mitchell Starc, Ashok Dinda and Abu Nechim picked up one wicket each.
Chasing this mammoth total, Royal Challengers Bangalore lost the wicket of Chris Gayle early. Yogesh Takawale and Virat Kohli had a good partnership before both of them were dismissed by Sunil Narine in 13th over. Yogesh Takawale scored 45 runs of 36 balls while Virat Kolhi scored 38 runs of 31 balls. Yuvraj Singh played a cameo but he was also dismissed by Sunil Narine and in the end the team ended their 20 overs on score of 165/5
For Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunil Narine picked up 4 wickets while Umesh Yadav picked up one wicket.
With those 4 wickets, Sunil Narine took hold of the Purple Cap. Earlier in the day Robin Uthappa took hold of the Orange Cap.
With this win Kolkata Knight Riders make sure that they reach the play-offs of IPL 2014 and the loss for RCB meant that they are out of the play-offs.
Robin Uthappa was named the Man Of The Match for his brilliant batting performance in the match.
