Born on 14th October 1976, Tillakaratne Dilshan is a Sri Lankan cricketer and former captain of the Sri Lanka national cricket team. He also plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Tillakaratne Dilshan is an aggressive right-handed batsman, a great runner between the wickets, he is also among the world’s best fielders and bowls handy off-spin.

He played the first three IPL Seasons with the Delhi Daredevils. In the players auction for IPL 2011, he was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore team for US $650,000. Since then he has been playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore team.
In the last two seasons with the Royal Challengers Bangalore, he was one half of an explosive opening pair with Chris Gayle.
In the five IPL seasons played so far, Tillakaratne Dilshan has scored 1077 runs in 47 IPL T20 matches at an average of 28.34 hitting nine half centuries. He has also taken five wickets with his off-spin bowling.
Once again Tillakaratne will be playing in IPL 2013 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore team.
