SunRisers Hyderabad IPL Team was founded in 2012 to replace the defunct Deccan Chargers Hyderabad franchise.

In its first season, SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) played well and finished fourth in the tournament. They made it to the Play-offs of IPL 2013 but lost in the eliminator match against Rajasthan Royals.

Out of the total 17 matches played this season they lost 7 matches.
