Sardar Patel Stadium - Ahmedabad

Sardar Patel Stadium, also known as the Motera Stadium is one of the venues for the IPL 2014. The stadium is located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Sardar Patel stadium is owned by Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) and comes under the West Zone.

It is the home of the Gujarat cricket team and the will this year be the home ground of Indian Premier League’s Rajasthan Royals (RR) team.

The venue is being used for all formats of the game namely – Test, One Day International and Twenty20 International matches.

It is the largest stadium in the state of Gujarat, and has an official capacity of 54,000 spectators.

Established in 1982, the first match was played at this stadium in 1983, a test match between India and West Indies.

The stadium is equipped with floodlights so that day-and-night games can also be played at the venue.

The stadium witnessed Sunil Gavaskar’s feat of 10,000 runs against Pakistan in 1986. In 1993, Kapil Dev claimed his 432nd victim break Richard Hadlee’s record of leading wicket-taker in Tests at the same ground.
