Having won the toss at the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad, Mumbai Indians elected to bat first.
Mumbai Indians had a good start with both openers playing well and scoring half centuries. Michael Hussey scored 56 runs of just 39 balls while Lendl Simmons scored 32 runs of just 51 balls. Then at the end captain Rohit Sharma scored 40 runs of just 19 balls to help his team reach a total of 178/3 in their 20 overs.

For Rajasthan Royals, Ankit Sharma picked up two wickets.
Chasing this big total, Rajasthan Royals lost few wickets early and were reduced to 42/3 in the 6th over. They kelp on loosing wickets as most of their batsman got out in single digits. Opener Karun Nair played well scoring 48 runs of just 24 balls. In the end Brad Hodge and James Faulkner played well but scoring 40 and unbeaten 31 runs but till then it was too late. In the end Rajasthan Royals ended their innings on 153/8 in 20 overs.
For Mumbai Indians, Pragyan Ojha, Harbhajan Singh, Shreyas Gopal and Krishmar Santokie picked up two wickets each.
Michael Hussey was named the Man Of The Match for his brilliant batting performance in the match.
