Kolkata Knight Riders reach finals of IPL 2014

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have reached the finals of IPL 2014, after defeating Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the first qualifier match of IPL Season 7.

Playing at their home ground – the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, batting first Kolkata Knight Riders posted a total of 163/8 in their 20 overs.

Robin Uthappa scored 42 runs of 30 balls opening the innings and then there were some useful contributions made by Manish Pandey, Shakib Al Hasan, Yusuf Pathan, Ryan ten Doeschate, Suryakumar Yadav and Piyush Chawla.

For Kings XI Punjab, Karanveer Singh picked up three wickets while Akshar Patel and Mitchell Johnson picked up two wickets each.

Chasing this total, Kings XI Punjab had a fear of rain interruption and hence they tried to play quickly and in the process lost a few wickets and it put brakes on their scoring. In the end Kings XI Punjab ended their innings on

Kings XI Punjab will now face the winner of Eliminator match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in the Qualifier 2, the winner of that match will face Kolkata Knight Riders in the finals of IPL 2014.
