In the match no. 40 of the season 7 of Indian Premier League (Pepsi IPL 2014),  Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Mumbai Indians (MI) by 6 Wickets.

Having won the toss at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Kolkata Knight Riders elected to field first.

Mumbai Indians had a poor start loosing bot the openers quickly. Ambati Rayudu played well scoring 33 runs of 27 balls and captain Rohit Sharma scored 51 runs of 45 balls. In the end team lost a few wickets and they reached the score of 141/5 in their 20 overs.

For Kolkata Knight Riders, Morne Morkel picked up two wickets while Shakib Al Hasan, Sunil Narine and Piyush Chawla picked up one wicket each.

Chasing this moderate score, had a good start with openers putting a 50 run partnership. Robin Uthappa played a brilliant innings scoring 80 runs of 52 balls. In the end Kolkata Knight Riders achieved the target in 18th over loosing 4 wickets.

For Mumbai Indians, Harbhajan Singh picked up two wickets while Lendl Simmons and Lasith Malinga picked up one wicket.

Robin Uthappa was named the Man Of The Match for his brilliant batting performance in the match.

This defeat means it is now very difficult for Mumbai Indians to reach IPL 2014 play-offs.
