IPL 2014

Once again it is likely that Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 Cricket Competition will be held outside India.

According to latest media reports, the Season 7 of India Premier League (IPL 2014) is likely to be held in Sri Lanka or Bangladesh as the schedule of the event might clash with the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections in Indian.

Previously the Season 2 of India Premier League (IPL 2009) was hosted out of India, in South Africa due to the Lok Sabha Elections which take place place after a gap of five years.

The election dates are not known yet, but the BCCI has begun to prepare for a possible overlap with the IPL, which is played in April and May.

The current Lok Sabha’s term ends in May 2014, and if the election is not brought forward, the IPL will coincide with campaigning and voting, and severely stretch security forces.

“The decision to move to South Africa in 2009 was taken at the last minute, and nobody had expected then that there would be an issue regarding security. But we now know that such a situation may arise again, and we are getting ready for it,” the official said.

IPL CEO Sundar Raman will come up with detailed plans in due course.

Anyways don’t worry much, we will have the detailed Schedule and Match Fixture details of IPL 2014 here on iplt20wiki.com as soon as they are Out !

Season 7 of IPL will feature eight teams with Mumbai Indians being the defending champions of the T20 tournament. This will be the second season with Pepsi being the title sponsor.
