Yesterday, December 15, the first-ever players draft for the 9th edition of Indian Premier League (VIVO IPL 2016) was held today in Mumbai.
In this IPL 2016 Players Draft, the two new sides, New Rising Pune and Intex Rajkot had to select five players each from a pool of 50 players from the two suspended franchises – Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals.
Ot of the 10 players drafted, 7 belonged to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) while the remaining 3 belonged to Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Both the teams have been banned from IPL for two years.

- 3rd Pick : R Ashwin (India, CSK) Spinner for Rs 7.5 Crores
- 4th Pick : Steve Smith (Australia, RR) Batsman for Rs 5.5 Crores
- 5th Pick : Faf du Plessis (South Africa, CSK) for Rs 4 Crores
Players Bought by Intex Rajkot for IPL 2016 :
- 1st Pick : Suresh Raina (India, CSK) Batsman for Rs 12.5 Crores
- 2nd Pick : Ravindra Jadeja (India, CSK) All-rounder for Rs 9.5 Crores
- 3rd Pick : Brendon McCullum (New Zealand, CSK) Wicketkeeper/Batsman for Rs 7.5 Crores
- 4th Pick : James Faulkner (Australia, RR) All-rounder for Rs 5.5 Crores
- 5th Pick : Dwayne Bravo (West Indies, CSK) for Rs 4 Crores
