Associated Press & other News Agencies not covering IPL 7

IPL 2014

The Associated Press (AP) and other international news organizations have suspended coverage of the Season 7 of Indian Premier League (IPL 2014) cricket tournament that starts tomorrow in the United Arab Emirates.

This happens because organizers of IPL have barred photographic agencies that have traditionally covered cricket from working at IPL. Organizers say a small selection of pictures taken by its own photographers will be made available to the media.

This is not the first time that this thing has happened. International media have not covered the last three editions of the IPL as well as tours to India by Australia and England because of similar restrictions.

AP is working with the News Media Coalition, a consortium of international media, to try to resolve the issue, but with limited time in hand, things look difficult.
