Jadeja was part of the victorious Indian U-19 cricket team that won the World Cup in Malaysia in 2008. He also represented India in the 2009 and 2010 ICC World Twenty20 competitions.
Jadeja made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka on 8 February 2009 and scored an unbeaten 60 in that match. However, his Test debut came almost four years later, in December 2012, against England at Nagpur.
He played the first two seasons of the Indian Premier League (2008 & 2009) for the Rajasthan Royals followed by playing IPL 2011 for the Kochi Tuskers Kerala.
Thanks to his all-round performances in IPL 2008, 2009 and 2011 he was bought by Chennai Super Kings in the players auction for IPL 2012 for $2 million (approx. Rs. 9.8 Crore), making him the most expensive player of the year’s auction, after a tie breaker between Chennai Super Kings and the now defunct Deccan Chargers.
With Dhoni showing immense faith in his abilities, Jadeja has become a regular fixture in Team India across all formats.
Ahead of the players auction for IPL 2014, Jadeja was retained by CSK for Rs. 7.5 Crore.
In IPL 2014, Ravindra Jadeja played in 16 matches scoring 146 runs and taking 19 wickets.
Ravindra Jadeja was retained by the team for IPL 2015.
