No players retained by Delhi Daredevils (DD) for IPL 2014

Delhi Daredevils (DD) the team that finished at the bottom of the points table with just 3 wins from 16 matches in the last season of IPL, choose not to retain any player ahead of the 2014 auction.

Delhi Daredevils was the only IPL franchise that decided not retain any player ahead of the 2014 auction.

According to media reports, the franchise was in talks with Virender Sehwag, Kevin Pietersen and David Warner till Thursday night, but the negotiations fell through. Though franchise officials remained tight-lipped about what went wrong, it can be understood that the owners were not willing to meet the price the players wanted.

Now with no players retained, the team will have the maximum right-to-match cards among all the franchises at the auction: i.e., three. They will also have their full purse of Rs 600 million (approx US$9.6) to spend at the players auction.

While Sehwag and Pietersen are currently out of form, but the teams decision about not retaining Davis Warner who currently is in good form is surprising.

The players auction for IPL 2014 will take place in Bangalore on February 12 and 13, 2014.
